Happy Holidays from ROBLOX!

If today’s numbers are any indication, ROBLOXians have definitely started their holiday vacations — and they’re spending their time on ROBLOX! This morning (and for the first time ever), ROBLOX had well over 150,000 logged-in players online at the same time. One hundred. And fifty. Thousand. Wow. And then, an hour later: 160,000! (You may recall that about this time last year we were marking 100,000 for the first time.)

We’ll be off enjoying the holidays with our friends and family for the next couple days, but we didn’t want to leave without wishing you all a safe and happy holiday week. Enjoy your break, play and build lots of games (which you’re clearly doing), watch for the ROBLOX Stocking to open, and stay tuned for our year-in-review series later this week. This January, Be a Winter Games Champion

As announced in Saturday’s BLOXcast livestream, we’ll be kicking off a worldwide gaming competition known as the ROBLOX Winter Games late this January! The competition will feature events created by some of the top ROBLOX game developers, and be powered by the now-in-development Universes, Teleports, and Data Persistence framework. That means there will be a social hangout leading to the various winter-themed events (each featuring prizes for top competitors) and a global leaderboard with aggregated results.

$3,330.30 Raised for Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda Relief

Over the last three days, the ROBLOX community banded together in support of the Philippines disaster relief effort. Your purchases of the Baseball Cap and Carabao Cap – which numbered almost 15,000 in the end – added up to a $3,330.30 donation, which we’ll be sending to UNICEF’s Typhoon Haiyan Emergency Response Fund. This is yet another exciting illustration of the power of ROBLOX’s community — in both the real and virtual worlds. Thanks to everyone who contributed! You all made a difference!

Support the Philippines Relief Effort with ROBLOX Hats

As you likely know, roughly one week ago Typhoon Haiyan struck the Philippines, causing devastation to the country and leaving many people in need of aid. We have decided to join the relief cause by offering two Philippines-themed hats in the catalog and donating the proceeds to UNICEF’s Typhoon Haiyan Emergency Response Fund. The Baseball Cap (15 ROBUX) and the Carabao Cap (100 ROBUX) will both be on sale through the morning of Monday, November 18th, and we will be donating $.10 for each Baseball Cap sold and $.65 for each Carabao Cap sold. This is your opportunity to support the Philippines relief effort and show that you provided support in ROBLOX.

Body Packages Now Available to All ROBLOXians

Being that it’s BLOXtober and we’d like to see all of you running around in any costume you can dream up, we’ve decided the time is right to open our selection of body packages to everyone. Body packages are full makeovers of the standard ROBLOX character — complete with anything from hulking armor to penguin fins to peg legs — and have long been a small benefit of a Builders Club membership.

This is not a Halloween special. From here on out, body packages will release initially as Builders Club exclusives, then soon become available to any ROBLOXian who wants them. While most body packages have already made the transition, there are a few we have yet to make available to everyone. That will happen next week.
